EST

GENERAL: Extended Standard Theory. Elaboration of the Standard theory. Its distinguishing marks are the strengthening of the hypothesis of the autonomy of syntax, the claim that semantic interpretation is determined by more than one level of representation, the introduction of Move alpha, trace theory, and the theory of LF. The EST originates in Chomsky (1973).
