Final lengthening

PHONETICS: A prominent lengthening of the duration of the last sounds preceding the end of a certain domain. The amount of lengthening depends on the depth of the domain boundary: e.g. the amount of final lengthening is much greater for sentence boundaries than for word boundaries.
