PHONETICS: The amplitude of the harmonics resulting from vocal fold vibration falls off by 12 dB per octave. This means that each time the frequency doubles, the amplitude of the harmonics decreases by 12 dB. This is called the spectral slope or tilt or roll-off in the source spectrum.
